Hi,

The HP cable management arms seem to be pretty reasonibly priced (bit fo a shock there) so I was thinking about getting one for my generic 42U server cabinet and Supermicro chassis.

I just want to check before buying that they will work in generic cabinets with non HP servers (i.e. they have standard fixings and not special HP server and rack only plugs, sockets, screws, cage nuts etc :)).

Thanks

I've used HP arms on Prism and APC cabinets in the past without problems. Don't tend to bother with them any more as they just block airflow out of the back of the server.

Thanks,

I am pulling the server in and out a fair bit at the moment and would rather not have to adjust the cables each time as I have a shelf with switches and routers on below that get pushed back and forth as the cables to this server go up and down as the server moves.

An arm is cheaper than another shelf and I am running out of spare space now in the rack.

Have you got the HP part number?
They will fit any cabinet, but they can only be used for HP servers, and they're different depending on the model and generation - so the chances of them working with a non-HP server are practically nil.

Hmm, how does that work. What makes them work with only specific servers.

My concern is that they fit to the servers rails rather than to the vertical rack bars. If that is the scase then they are not going to be much use to me unless it would be fairly simple to make us a bracket to convert the ends for use with generic server chassis and racks.
