Can I add M.2 SSDs via PCIe on Gigabyte Z87X-OC?

Hi everyone,

I currently have a Gigabyte Z87X-OC mobo (F8 BIOS) with a 4770K @ 4.5Ghz and an MSI Gaming 1080ti. All my mobo SATA ports have various SATA SSDs attached.

What I would like to know is if I can buy a PCIe card to which I can then install at least 2 fast M.2 SSDs (970 Evo, WD Black 3D etc) and be able to boot from both/either M.2 SSD?

If so, do you have any recommendations for the PCIe card? Price isn't too much of an issue.

Take my post with a pinch of salt,

But i think you can buy an adaptor for a NVMe drive though, that is if your motherboard does not support one straight away.

Be careful, although that will work, it may not work as a boot disk, and I don't see this functionality mentioned anywhere. So if it doesn't, it means you would only have it as an extra drive, and not a bootable one.

You can mod the bios on the Z87 to support NVMe
