Can I buy back my car audio from a breakers?

I was told by tesco to take my audio gear out before the low loader came when I wrote my car off. If that helps lol.

why havent you found out where the car is and taken your sound system out by now?!!!! you dont want to be buying it back if you dont have to...

Are you covered for your in car entertainment?.... if not.. then most insurance covers it upto a max of £150 i think.... so if you aint covered seperately for it.. id go and get is quick if i was you.

1) Because my broker and insurance company keep telling me it is somewhere its not... its also more than likely 100+ miles away

2) I don't know what state some of the ICE is in

3) My insurance covers more than £150

i took out my head unit/sub/amp/cd changer at the accident scene.

No way my car is sitting in someones compound with all that stuff in overnight!

Then at the recovery centre I took off my induction kit, clear side repeaters, wiring, wheel caps, everything I could get to. I was told I would have to put all the original stuff on it though, luckily I had kept it all.

I would have taken the exhaust off (a lovely Milltek exhaust) but the ground was too soft to be able to lift the car up :(

Speak to the insurance company.. if they have paid you for the stereo, then you can BUY it back, if they havent covered your stereo, you should be able to remove it legally before the breakers breaks the car...

:D

Does it however cover non-standard audio? Most policies cover £500 or £1000 of OEM car audio, and will not cover anything fitted afterwards unless they are otherwise informed.
