Hey guys,

I'm going to be upgrading my FX 8320 and rog mobo to a Intel 4790k and z97 mobo, can i do this without re-installing windows?

I will remove all chip set drivers etc before hand

Thanks

Yes thankfully to Windows 8, you really don't need to reinstall and also don't need to remove all chip set drivers etc before hand after changed AMD to Intel motherboard.

I was surprised after changed from old AMD Phenom II X4 940 to Intel Core i7 3770K noticed Windows 8 beta was automatically ran Getting Devices Ready Setup after powered on then restarted and went to lock screen just in a few mins. Amazing :)

But it was different with Windows 7 BSODs all the times because it did not removed all chip set drivers etc before hand.

I have just done this going to a new CPU and motherboard..

Changed the hardware.. installed old SSD with 8.1... PC did a little set-up.. installed the new drivers for mobo... and used the telephone system to reactivate windows..

job done...
