Can I delete Gmail e-mails using Windows Mail???

I have a Gmail account and 90% of the time I access it through Windows Live Mail but when I delete an e-mail (or move it into a local folder), it doesnt remove it from my Gmail webmail account if I access it online!?!?

I've had a look through the IMAP and POP settings but can't quite seem to follow what settings I need to change to get it to work!!!

Can someone point me in the right direction??

Are you using IMAP?

Yes, IMAP is enabled in the Gmail settings but I dont really understand what it is or how it works!

You need to make sure Live Mail is using IMAP.

Unlike POP which downloads emails from the server (deleting them by default) IMAP gives you direct access to the contents of your mailbox. What you see is what you get.

And if you go down the POP3 route, make sure you don't have "leave a copy of email on the server" in Windows Mail, or you'll still have a copy on G-mail once you've deleted it from Windows Mail

Normal IMAP, if you delete a mail it should be deleted. Gmail apparnetly doesn't work like that.
