I am thinking of buying an OC`s "overclocked bundle" but my present setup has Raid on the 3 HD`s which was installed by the supplier of my current Mobo.
A new bundle means a new Mobo but will my HD`s work in Raid or must I reformat them and reinstall win7 and all my software

Raid confuses me but I would like to upgrade

Many thanks

George

I'm 99.9% certain that you'll need to reinstall. You will probably be able to use RAID on the new board but because the controller will most likely be different you'll have to set up a new array.

If you set up RAID then you need to format and re-install dont you?

A new mobo is a new RAID setup so id say you have to. Its also been reconmended on here that with a new mobo a re-install of windows is advised.

Mostly moving from an AMD chipset to a newer AMD chipset on raid should be fine. I've just done that from a 790fx to a 890gx board, witha 750/850 south bridge change.

Generally speaking a move from Intel to Intel has been fine for me for most jumps aswell.

AMD to an Intel board, you'd need a reinstall, of the top of my head the MSI mobo sounds like an AMD one, though not sure and can't be bothered to look it up :p

As DM said a switch from AMD to an Intel board will almost certainly need a reinstall. But give it a shot first though you never know. Judging by your question you're running RAID0 yeah?

Thanks Guys - as the change would be from AMD to Intel it looks fairly certain that a format is the road to go

I appreciate your help

George
