Hi, just ripped some videos. (for some reason makemkv, wouldnt do this DVD)

I ended up with
VOB
BUP
IFO Files.

BUP & IFO are only 8kb / 36kb each

whereas the VOB files are much larger. ie: each episode.

VOB plays fine on VLC player.

I am using/ripping for use in XBMC.

Just wondered if I needed to keep those other files?

They have come in as Audio and Video_TS Folders.

Thank you

Cheers. I already have the original in a cupboard anyhow. So wont need to burn them, was just curious.

Even though all these files/videos work fine. there is nothing in the audio folder?
is that normal

You need to keep them. The vobs are the video/audio streams but the other files are all the structure and information.

AUDIO_TS only has content if it's a DVD-Audio disk, you can delete it.

In dvd the vob files always restricted to around 1gb so if you have a show or movie longer than a certain length it will be cut up in to multiple vobs, which means you have to add all the vobs to a playlist. If you just run the .ifo it will load all the files in to playlist.

Yup. As for the .bup file, I believe it's simply a BackUP of the .ifo.

Now that you've ripped the files off the DVD you could try pointing MakeMKV at the IFO file and see whether it'll work now.
