OK so i have a rolling contract with Vodafone that ends next month, and the number is quite vital as it's on my business cards (just ordered a new glossy batch) and it ends in 118 which is quite cool :D

anyway i have a O2 contract that i dont even use and would ideally like to port this expiring vodafone number onto my O2 one

i will call them tomorrow, just wondering if that is something they would do?

1) Get the PAC code from Voda. As it's a rolling contract, you have no commitments and they will happy give it. Just ensure they do not go round cancelling your number.

2) Hand PAC to o2 with the Voda number you want to transfer over.

Yes, it is possible as Voda will give you the PAC code. A few yeas ago number ports were only allowed at the start of a contract, but I think that's way in the past...

cool, will do that tomorrow, might call o2 if i get a chance to confirm

Depending on the provider, it can actually take days to do (so I was told by Orange). Your PAC code will be valid for 30 days.

However, from porting from Orange > Giffgaff, it took 5 hours and all is well in the world.
