hi guys, i bought my new system the other day from here and it comes with a wd blue 500gb hdd. i currently have a 640gb wd external hdd. i took the external one apart because im nosey to find its exactly the same as an internal hdd just with a protective case and connector adapters for the power and data.

is it possible to fit this hdd into my computer with the correct cables and it will work fine?

also what would be the best way to use the second hard drive in terms of performance and generally the norm?

my current internal hdd isnt partitioned so the os/games/files are all saved in the same place.

any help would be great.

thanks rob

Wont be a problem :)

Normally best to partition so that the programs etc are at the outer edge of the hard drive where the best performance is.

thanks for the confirmation. with partitioning a hard drive does it need to be done before installing an operating system? or can it be done after as well?

You can play around with the partitions after using a Linux disc or something like GParted but its a little messier if data has to be moved etc. and there is the potential of losing data.

Better to do it before installing OS if possible
