Can I fix this? (360 dead-ish)

My 360 is pretty old and on its way out I think.

It used to sometimes give me a RROD, but after a cool down would be fine.

I've put her on again today and been presented with some graphics corruption like this..

Is this fixable via Xclamp trick or anything else or is it time to bite the bullet and buy a new one (easier said than done with little money ).

Returning it to MS is a no go as its a) out of warranty and b) been opened. I forget why now, I think my DVD tray was jammed.

My last xbox died of this, not red rings just graphics corruption. Just means the GPU is shot.

i bought an elite this week because i was cashing in on the fact that i need more storage, my xbox stil
worked, and elites are cheap. these days you can get an elite for 199 from a wel known games store, get it with tiger woods and fight night and trade them in instanly for 40 quid credit. effectively meaning youve payed 159 for a new console, 3 years warrently on e74 and rrod, and more storage/new revision. made sense for me, its a good time to upgrade lol. also a 20gb xbox trades for 83 quid. making the offer even more atractive.

GPU is toast.

The xclamp trick provides at best a temporary fix - I got another 6 months out of mine. Replaced it a couple of weeks ago with a Jasper arcade which is much quieter.

My DVD tray got jammed too. Amazingly after I fixed that it had other magical properties. New one is staying unmolested!

Decided to bite the bullet and splash out last night and got a new Elite from the High Street on credit ()

Got a New Elite (without the HDMI cable in the box like it was meant to have )
- An extra Black Controller
- Black rechargeable battery pack
- Extra White Wireless Controller*
- Lego Indy*
- Kung Fu Panda*
- Lego Batman
- HDMI cable
* All part of the 'Wireless Entertainment Package'

All for £275

How much os much quieter? My fans are quieter than my Pro, but far from silent but my DVD drive is still pretty noisy. I suppose thats what the 120gb HDD is for?

I just got a Jasper, the drive in it is the loudest yet. My release day 360 is very quiet in comparison. This is my fourth 360 and they just seem to get louder and louder..

I had this gpu problem on mine, tried oven technique on it, worked for a short while then dead again, ended up giving up and buying another.

£275 for that you got robbed.

As above, you could have got one with fight night 4 and tiger woods for £200.
Those Wireless Entertainment Package are only £15, but if you needed it on credit. You may of been better off just putting it on a credit card.

£3.97 in Tesco. Not exactly a expensive. No need for the official MS one unless you need the optical digital out adaptor.

Compared to my old Pro I can't hear the fans, however the DVD is still a noisy little blighter when its spinning. Not sure which drive I have now but seems a tad noisier than the Tosh/Samsung in my old Pro.

to be fair tho on an elite, who needs disk drives. (unless for dvds but i have a hddvd add on
for that)
