Can I get a reasonable build for £500

Thinking I might have a go and build my own. Never built one from scratch before but have change enough parts of them before so think I should be ok, any good guides or books out there ?

building is the easy part, loads of guides. just google.
the problem is, if it doesn't boot on first try - then the troubleshooting. it's uncommon, but common enough to need to take it into account if you have enough expertise/time to spend on it.
or you want a system that "just works"
