Can i get away with Hiper's RMA process without a reciept?

As title really...

I've just had my cousins Hiper 580W Modular Blue blow up, and he's now running a OCZ 500W. However, my computer only has a 400W X-Pro PSU (old school

), and i wouldn't mind getting a slightly better one as this one is being pushed too its limits.

I've gone through the RMA process (got a number etc), but i dont have a reciept of purchase, and the email i got states that they need to see proof of purchase

Basically, i am in the last month of warranty (only 3 years) so i need to get this sorted asap if i am to get a replacement to use for mine.

Should i sent it off without a reciept and take a chance, or forget trying?

Maybe see if the manufacturing date would do? I imagine it's just so they know it's under 3 years old.

I always assumed it's to prove you didn't steal the thing

If you brought from a online store, you can always get in contact with them because most companies normally keep a record of invoices and such for a while.

Yeah that'll be the best way to go about it. I had to RMA my Tagan PSU last week and despite it being bought 34 months ago OcUK still had a record of the invoice and had it sent to me next day.

Ok, thanks fellas. I will get in contact with overclockers tomorrow. Its near 3 years old though, so i'm hoping their office has a lot of filing cabinets!

or hard disc drives perhaps

Ive had to RMA three of these. They did request for the receipt each time for me.

Same as 2 gone pop. No Receipt no RMA.

I used to work near their Milton Keynes sites always fancied a drive by PSU throwing.

Well i gave Hiper a call.

They told me too write down a purchase date of 01/01/04 on a piece of paper with the PSU, explaining that i was told to write this over the phone, and to tell them that i had no reciept for it. If i didnt do this, then it would go immediately to quarantine and then they would phone up asking for a reciept.

Seems very wierd to me considering i bought it in Sept 05, but nevermind.

Will see how far i get. Will keep you updated.
