can i get away with this on bf4?

YOUR BASKET
1 x HIS HD 7950 3072MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card (H795F3G2M) £166.66
1 x AMD Piledriver FX-6 Six Core 6300 Black Edition 3.50GHz (Socket AM3+) Processor - Retail £74.99
1 x Asus M5A97 EVO R2.0 AMD 970 (Socket AM3+) DDR3 Motherboard £66.66
1 x Corsair Builder Series CX 600W V2 '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply (CP-9020048-UK) £49.99
Total : £429.96 (includes shipping : FREE).

Over budget by £30 but results are worth it. I believe the 6300 has about the same clock for clock performance as the q6600 but it is a hex core and stock clock is much higher and overclocking to 4.5-4.8 isn't a problem with a half decent air cooler. The GPU has 3gb of Vram and is a beast of a card for the price. PSU can handle a decent clock on both the CPU and GPU.

Why is your price excluding VAT?

I dunno, i specced earlier today in this thread and got the same thing. Maybe my HTML code is messed up.

Are you guys not getting it?

Only been doing it today :s

I made sure the total was inc VAT though ( May have got it wrong, had to make a few edits here and there)

Why people are recomending a 780 for bf4 is a bit confusing as a 290 is a better card for this game it is faster and cheaper and once mantle is added it will be even more ahead you can even get bf4 free with it

Its out of his budget either way. A 780 and 290/290x will be heavily limited by current CPU and will need a new PSU aswell.

My spec above is quite well balanced for BF4. There is a thread (link below) which shows a 6300 @4.6 and a 7950 @ stock and gain @1100 with no bottleneck at stock but with the GPU overclocked, the bottleneck is the CPU, but when mantle makes an appearance, even with the most conservative estimates of performance improvements, the CU bottleneck should disappear.

I've seen mixed results regarding BF4 CPU performance with bigger CPUs not necessary doing that much better. I agree with the other in this thread that the 7950 would be a good choice.

My advice, buy the 7950 and if it does not result in reasonable frames then buy a second hand sandy bridge system. You may also want to have a look around for a second hand 7970 Ghz addition.

It's also worth noting that BF4 does perform better with all cores unparked (google it) and also Windows 8.1 because of DX11.1 optimisation.

Point of this thread was?

Op didnt listen to anything any 1 said?

Op had £400 to spend and people reccommending a 780 basically all his budget on a GPU when his CPU will massivly bottleneck that. His resolution is most likely 1280 X 1024 so why would he even need a 780 for that?

Best thing would be

AMD 6300 + mobo + PSU + 280/7950

But as op didn't listen doesn't matter anyway.

Wonder how long that 660 will last...

Pairing a 780 or a 290/X with a Q6600 is pretty naff advice as well to be fair. :p

But yes, a 7950 is a far better GPU than a GTX660. I had a GTX660 before my GTX670, and don't get me wrong, it was a decent GPU for the money, but I did buy it as a deliberate side-grade from a 480, and it was over a year ago when it was on offer.

Quite a while with a 19" monitor. I dont think people read what the OP wanted and just saw £400 and wanted to spend it for him.

a 780 with a Q6600 and 19" monitor ? ha ha.

The AMD upgrade was a good path but the OP doesnt like AMD so I can see why the 660 was purchased.

For his current setup it will suffice for quite some time.
