Hi there,
I started my overclocking adventure approximately 3 days ago, there was a bunch of reading, applying, testing, stressing and benching going on throughout.
My System Spec goes as follows :
i7 5930K
Gigabyte X99-SLI
Corsair Vengeance LPX 32GB
980Ti EVGA Hybrid
XFX TS-850W
As for the cooling, the system sits in a Corsair 780T
There are 3 NZXT 120mm fans in front for intake
The cpu has a corsair H80i GT with push and pull configuration with use of EK Vardar Fans
The GPU us hybrid so obviously watercooled, using original EVGA supplied fan for push and have an NZXT 140mm fan above for pull.
So far on the CPU I managed 4.4Ghz on core @ 1.277v and 4GHz on cache with 1.2v, AIDA 64 Stress temps were between 68-78 after 35 minutes and stable.
The RAM is in XMP Profile 2 running 2666MHz
The GPU is running at 1507MHz core and 1901MHz mem 98.8% stable according to 3D mark stress test.
My best score on Fire strike so far is 18100 with 21069 Graphics score, 17517 Physics and 9019 combined.
When I tried to push the card extra 15Mhz on core I actually got a worse result on Fire strike although did not test the stability beforehand. Although my conclusion is its most likely voltage throttle as I'm currently running stock voltage on the card.
I'm currently saving up for a better cpu cooling solution not sure whether to go with a 280mm corsair instead, a pre constructed kit such as EK Predator or just go for a full custom loop for the cpu. I'm after some significant temp drops as would like to push the CPU to at least 4.6Ghz, already checked 4.5GHZ stable on 1.3v but did not like the temperatures so clocked down.
I noticed a significant temp increase when I overclocked the cache to 4ghz from standard 3ghz, some people say its not needed some say it is. so not sure how to go about that as im now getting same temps on aida stress as i was on my 4.5ghz clock with 1.3v without the cache clock, so what do you guys think will be better 4.4ghz on 1.277v with 4ghz cache on 1.2v, or 4.5Ghz on 1.3v with 3ghz cache on standard 1.050v, bare in mind this is just for now as I will definitely be looking in to upgrading the cooler.
Apart from that any other suggestions on what can be done to take things higher?
Thanks!
