Can i get my pc rid of java and adobe flash now for HTML5?

Im just wondering on how to go about this and which is the best browser to do so.I still need adblock plus and noscript with whatever browser it will require.

Ive heard all the recent news about how they are both insecure and to be honest they have been a plague as long as i can remember with crashes and what not.

The problem is with a clean Windows 7 64bit SP1 install will windows still have built in java? If so how do you find and remove it? And what browser will work with youtube etc without flash installed? Ive read that unless is it x264 codec it will revert to the "old" flashplayer in google chrome?

Really i just want youtube to work for music and the odd video in HMTL5 i dont care about flashy websites as this is a gaming pc not a web browser.

Windows doesn't come with Java. Don't install it unless you need it.

Flash is sand-boxed in Google Chrome and kept up-to-date automatically.

It's sand-boxed in FF.

For web browsing you don't need Java anymore and I'd say for the few websites that may need it the risk isn't worth the reward.

However where java is still useful is for a few apps on your PC like Air Video if you use that to stream to iOS devices.

You can just dump Java, only thing I use it for is Minecraft. Even then, I have it disabled on the browser level.

I suggest you keep flash for now as some sites still are slow moving to HTML5. Chrome has it built in while for Firefox you will need to download it from the Adobe site, but both are sandboxed.

So just use whatever browser you want, I believe both those addons are on both Firefox and Chrome.

Dump Java and enable click to play for Flash content.

Very few websites require java these days (mostly older ones) and both firefox and chrome disable it automatically so you can safely install it if you use those browsers. If you ever find a page you actually need it for you have to turn it on manually, which is not really chore since I've only had one such site in the past year

Flash automatically updates its self these days too.
