Last week I had a problem with my Seagate st380011a 80 GB ide oem drive where I could hear weird noises coming from the drive and the system would occasionally restart itself, and sometimes it wouldn’t boot!
When in windows it would take a longer time to load up and when running programs that use up a lot of cpu the system would stutter e.g. when music is running and you try and run a program you can hear it stuttering and it crackles.
I ran seatools diagnostics program and it came up with no errors but the problem still occurred, so I bought a new drive and cloned my data on to the new drive and it is working perfectly.
My question is can I get a replacement from Seagate? The thing is drive is over a year old, it was bought in may 2005 and im not sure if my warranty is 1 year, 2 years or 5 years specified on the website.
Thanx for your help
