Was driving on a 60 road last night when I came up behind an old Corsa doing about 45-50 mph. It later transpired that the driver was eating a mcdonalds as a few minutes later he threw his McDonalds stuff out of his Window and sped up.

I wasn't particularly bothered about being slowed down, but very annoyed that he saw fit to litter the road and country side with his rubbish, when he could have easily kept the rubbish in his car and disposed of it at his destination.

I got my Girlfriend to make a note of his registration, do you think it would be possible to get him done for littering or fly tipping?

probably not, no real proof. Report it to the police if you want though, as they might go and have a chat which might scare them. Or if they do pull them over in the future for littering there's at least some evidence of it happening before.

But unless you got it on film with a clear shot of the driver, there's no proof.

I wasn't really thinking of the police, but maybe the local council, as they tend to take fly tipping rather seriously. Will have to investigate further....

Again, they need proof, we have a hell of a hard time on the railway. Only had a few convictions in the whole country. Even if the rubbish contains addresses/personal documents we've had at least 1 case where they where planted in there by the fly tipper.

my girlfriend got a fine thru the post because some1 said the saw here throw a cig out her window.

but she dont smoke and didnt throw anything so her mum phone em up and she didnt have to pay it.

i dont no if they phoned the police or council or who ever tho

How on earth could the law EVER make a penalty notice stand with zero evidence?

Innocent until proven guilty..........?

As has been posted, it's unfortunately unlikely that anything will happen regarding this.

You should have issued vigilante justice! The one time I've had some woman in an Escort empty an entire McDonalds out of her window on to the front of my car, I overtook, slowed back to her pace, and proceeded to throw everything I could possibly find out of the window at her. I felt immeasurably better after that :p

lol, that's the kind of justice we need in the courts.

i remember a woman got fined last year for her child throwing a wotsit or something out of the window, it was on the news and everything

On a similar note, i have a photo of a tow truck in my local area from behind, licence plate readable, and the driver can clearly be seen in the reflection of the wing mirror nattering away on his phone. I took the picture because this was a residential area and I thought his actions were utterly irresponsible. Should i do anything with it?

Report the cretin.

With enough information i.e. people reporting such drivers, the Police can, and will act against bad motorists, target them if you like.

Without reporting, then we may as well sit back & watch the roads fill with idiots, which it seems to be doing so at an alarming rate.

Can we see the photo? Were you driving, then you are little better.

Yes, i was driving, however at the time I was behind him stationary while he was waiting to turn left onto the major road of a T-Junction. I noticed him on the phone for a good while previous to this situation. I think the action of sliding open a phone and pressing a button when not going anywhere somewhat different to driving around a residential road chatting on your phone in a heavy duty company vehicle
