Can i go from DAC to soundbar

i have a seperate DAC and headphones amp

can i go straight from the DAC, RCA leads to a Yamaha Soundbar ? (and miss out the amp)
 
You can't miss out the amp. I assume you mean miss out the DAC in the soundbar, using your existing one instead?

If that's what you mean, then yes, you can do that, as long as the soundbar has analogue input. I assume most do.
 
it does and i tried, from my DAC (plugged to PC via USB) straight in to the soundbar

it works but cuts out every 30 seconds for a split second

just testing RCA leads straight from sound card to soundbar, that seems to work ok , not my ideal but it will do
 
Strange why it would cut out every 30 seconds when connected to the DAC. Have you tried connecting any other speakers to the DAC to see if the same happens?
 
I can't think of any logical reason why there's a cut out every 30 seconds when the DAC is connected to the Yamaha, but is perfectly fine when feeding the headphone amp, and why there is no cut out when connecting the sound card to the Yamaha.

Most bizarre.
