Hi guys

Would someone be able to lend me a hand setting up my new mx518 mouse. I am trying to setup some of the mouse buttons in battlefield but not having much luck. I have just un-installed the setpoint app that came with the mouse so all i now have is the driver that windows installed.

I have tried setting my reload key to be the top (+) button on the mosue which is normally the button to increase the dpi setting, i select the mouse column in the on foot setting in battlefield and click the button i would like but nothing seems to happen apart from it pops up saying i have already asigned the the x axis to move left etc whenever i move the mouse slightly

Any ideas how to get around this? im sure i have proberly missed a simple step but cant seem to figure it out at all

Thanks a million

I don't believe you can reprogram the dpi buttons. I think they adjust DPI directly on the mouse rather than through software.

Ok mate i will give that ago should i use the cd version or download the newer one from there site? also will this change the settings for the mouse in general or can i asign these settings just for specific games?

The main problem is no matter what button i try and press to assign that button to a command in the mouse column of the battlefield settings it just picks up that im moving the mouse and wants to know if i want to change the x & y axis setting? I thought this mouse had a few programable macros if i red it right but maybe its not wat i thought hope i haven't just waseted £30 for nothing

EDIT

Just installed version 6 of setpoint, didnt change any buttons within the setpoint settings yet but this time when i went into the battlefield settings i was able to assign the 2 side buttons to what i wanted but still could not assign the document flip button to anything. I tried changing the document flip button in setpoint to a macro key which i used just the letter Q which is the spot command in battlefield. When i tried again setting this button in battlefield it still would not come up i thought assigning it a keyboard letter might do the trick but it does not

Just tried that mate i set the document flip button to "q" tested it in word clicked the button and q popped up no problem but when trying to assign that button in the battlefield settings it still will not let me :(

Yes mate, but "R" is already assigned to "Reload" in the game anyway.

Your mouse will therefore just be sending the same keystroke to the game.
(e.g. don't need to make any changes in-game) ;)

Edit: Just seen your edit regarding the document-flip button. Its possible that you can't map certain buttons so try using one of the sensitivity buttons instead.

What I'm trying to say is that if your mouse software is setup to pass a keystroke to the game when you click a particular button (and that keystroke is already setup on the keyboard) then you don't need to also map the same mouse button in the game. Sorry if thats not clear :)

Tonester your spot on!! i just realized that if i assign say "q" to spot on my keyboard settings and then assign a macro to the my flip document button for the letter "Q" in game it works fine so i dont actually need to assign any keys in the battfield settings like you said just macro the ones i want and as long as they are setup as they keyboard commands in battlefields settings im good to go sweeeeeet :)

Thanks so much matey

The downside is you won't be able to drop the dpi for long range shots. On my old mx515 I had no dpi adjustment and assigned those buttons to different tasks in different games. After using dpi adjustment for 6 months, I wouldn't go back at all. The advantages simply outweigh the loss of 2 commands and I'd urge you to use it for at least 2 weeks, then try going back :)

Besides, not using it put you at a disadvantage over other high dpi mouse users.

I see wat u mean mate the lower dpi setting really would help with long range shooting so might give it ago. IIRC are there 3 dpi settings with this mouse low, normal & high? dont no the dpi numbers lol

np :D

This is also true. Being able to switch your DPI "on the fly" is very handy. E.g.: you can have a normal DPI for walking around, then switch to high DPI when in a Tank (makes the turret move faster) or switch to a low DPI when aiming with a Sniper sight (makes accurate shooting at long distances easier).

Peronally I have not remapped my DPI buttons, just the two thumb buttons to "Pistol" and "Melee". The game should auto reload your weapons, so you don't really need to map that key to your mouse.

Just my humble tho, good luck with experimenting with your settings mate

Set the "extra buttons" that arent already recognised by battlefield to keyboard keys, and then in game you click on the keybaord assignment and then press the mouse button.
Means you can change the keys to whatever you want in BF.

Noo...
Wrench and shotgun are the way to go. Stick the shift documents key to smoke generator for one of the best armour setups :)
