Can I have two windows 7's one on hdd and one on ssd?

I have a 1tb hdd now with windows 7 and I'm putting in a ssd. I thought I could just put windows 7 again on the ssd and then use the 1 tb hdd for storage only. In stead of reformatting hdd I would just leave the windows 7 on there and use the W7 on the ssd. Is that ok to do that? I guess it would. I gonna make the ssd the default drive to boot W7.

ye its fine,
unplug other drives when installing is a good idea too, so it only puts files on the ssd, saves any problems later on

Having the additional HDDs connected won't cause any initial problems with the install. However there is always a risk that windows will put the boot files on one of the hdds rather than the SSD. If that happens and the HDD is removed the system will fail to boot

By disconnecting any extra drives you just make sure that everything is installed on the SSD.
