can i/how to sell command and conquer 4 second hand? :(

In the EA constant online DRM thread there was this post. No idea if there is any truth behind it, or an urban myth.

Worth pursuing it, as I doubt many people can talk from experience when replying yes or no.

When I sold Battlefield 2 the buyer didn't contact me with any issues reusing it. Don't know if the buyer had to do what hornett stated. But that was years ago, and simpler times.

why dont people just watch gameplay videos before they buy the game. A simple 5-10 minutes of watching gameplay vids on youtube tells me whether I'm going to want the game or not, and a quick read of any features that might be added that will change the experience for me and I never end up buying a game I'm not happy with.

I heard the hype about AvP, looked at about 3 gameplay vids on youtube and knew it was a **** game a couple months before release, yet I see people moaning after they have bought it about things that I could watch in the videos several months previous.

I've watched videos of C&C4 with their no base building and new gameplay elements, again months before release and saw just how shallow the game was looking to previous versions and so have paid no attention to it since.

It's so simple.
Or look out for betas/demos. There was a beta for C&C 4 which I uninstalled after 5 mins, and a demo for AvP which made me cancel my pre-order.

Just for the people who said watch gameplay, reviews and demos...

1: gameplay. How can you watch gameplay videos when the game hasnt been released? Ahh by watching EA version of gameplay vids.. The company can easily make a game look exciting when infact it isnt. Other videos up are of Betas.. and BETAS nearly allways suck! The lists of Betas ive played that suck then when the game comes out are amazing is endless! so Gameplay videos on new games.. stupid advice.

2: Demos? if you can find me a demo of C&C4, Spores, Sims 3.. go ahead :)

3: reviews? Are we talking about websites that are paid off by EA and Ubisoft to say their games are AMAZING? Do a little research and youll find a lot of cases where review sites are given 'backhanders'. (in some form) So why would i trust ANY websites? I have read reviews that gave Halo 3, 9 out of 10 GTA 4 10 out of 10, AION 9 out of 10, want me to continue? Even .. a site that isnt a million miles away.. delete the odd bad review! (im not saying ANY names so please dont ban me..) Same with play & amazon. So how can cusomer reviews be trusted? It does come down to Past games the company have released and how well you trust them. Ive trusted EA for a number of flops now (spores, sims 3, fifa 10 (unplayable on pc), just to name 3) Tbh ill think twice before buying any EA games in the future.

Im going to keep C&C4 and put it down to trusting a company that have a hostory of rolling out bad, unfinished games that you cant sell on. :)

Are you kidding me? Name me a game coming in the next few months that doesn't have a ton of gameplay videos on youtube.

It's so simple.

Only to an extent, watching a video of a game is like reading a short synopsis of a film, it'll give you a basic idea but the film may thrive on the cinematography and acting. Or hearing about the plot of a book, it won't give you a taste for the use of the language and writing style. Similarly watching a video will never give you a true taste for the feel and interaction you have with a game, so whilst it can sometimes give a fair idea of whether something is going to be rubbish or not, often the things that make or break many games are things you would never see in a video.

Read it again. I said all the gameplay videos are made by the company! Look at gameplay videos of say Splatterhouse all by the company that made it. They are showing you pre approved gameplay vids. Gmaeplay vids that dont show you the boring parts Or parts that show you bad leveling systems etc. Now look at bad company 2 gameplay vids. There are pre approved clips from EA (pre release) and also user gameplay vids (after release) . I know which one im more intrested in seeing.

Its like Game demos, do you think there going to allow you to play mid game levels that are slow, drawn out and boring? No there going to let you play a tutorial level (so you can get the most out the next part) then an action packed level that will make you want the game!

I very rarely follow any kind of game but even so even I know that C&C4 was a massive dodo. You only have yourself to blame for buying into EA's conveyor belt of ****

1. Splatterhouse is expected to be released in Q3 2010, you can't expect to see none-approved videos that far ahead - and frankly why do you need to if it's that far away?

2. I watched 30+ gameplay videos from the beta of BFBC2 before I made up my mind pre-release. I didn't even glance at the official videos.

If a game is bad, there aren't boring bits they aren't showing you, you'll be able to see from the videos that the gameplay in general is bad. If all you watched were marketing videos of C&C4, then shame on you because I watched a ton of unofficial gameplay videos of the game before it was released, even though it's quite clear from the approved gameplay videos that it's a terrible game.

1/2: Splatterhouse was a random game i picked out the air. Tbh i have NO idea of what games are coming out soon for the PC lol! But lets just say Mw2! on youtube ALL the Mw2 beta videos (from users) were pretty buggy! Server problems (spesh for pc version) etc. Also by watching gameplay vids you cant get the feeling for the Messed up character builds and perks. Its only when you buy it and exsperience the game you can tell just HOW messed up a game is. Same with AION Beta Vids and Champions online. Champions online beta had SO many bugs it was unplayable for the first 2 weeks! In aion gameplay vids you never really saw how long the quetimes were to get onto a server or the amount of koren people spamming spawn points. there is NO way you can Judge if a game is worth buying from watching 90% Of user beta vids. Watching videos you cant get a feel for how a gameplays let alone a video that is slow/jerky and bug ridden. I know you may disagree but thats what i feel and from what a lot of people have said in this post they feel same :/

3: Good for you :) Tbh the pre release game looked Okay. Same with AION, SPORES and champions online. You CANT get a full feeling for a game by just looking at vids and imagining what its like to play. Maybe games like Fallout 3 and oblivion. But games like C&C4, Empire/total war games are hard to judge. Some games are hard to get into. You cant tell from a 10min vid clip of some EA guy showing you features. Once again maybe you can judge a game going by videos but not every one can and tbh call me lazy but i dont have time to sit around watching an hour of gameplay footage just to judge if a game is worth playing or not. When i pay £29.99 for a pc game i at leats want it feeling finished. .... ANYWAY I ONLY ASKED IF I COULD SELL IT 2ND HAND! *cries*

Thats why you do this thing called 'reading'. And you read player experiences from the beta. That will tell you all about the current flaws in-game. Really between watching gameplay videos and doing a little bit of research there's no reason you should ever make a bad purchase. It just sounds like you buy a game without doing any research and then say it wasn't your fault, you didn't know.
