Can I install Plex on my NUC and have it boot straight into it??

I've currently got an Intel NUC (an i5 I believe) running OpenElec and while it ticks all of my boxes for media streaming in the house, I'd kind of like to be able to stream content while I'm out and about too!

My question is, having pretty much zero knowledge of Linux, can I install Plex as the actual OS on my NUC like OpenElec did for Kodi or do I need to install Linux and then load the Plex software after the fact??

I presume I'd simply have the "Plex Home Theatre" on the box itself to be able to manage the content etc??

Thanks for any tips....

I have mine running W10 and Plex shortcut in the startup folder.

As far as I recall (this was two years ago mind), getting Plex to run without showing the mouse cursor, or getting the right HDMI Audio passthrough etc was a pain.

Windows works, relatively, painlessly.

You cant "boot" into Plex on a PC. You can have Plex start on startup though, as said.

I use Windows 10, it just works and I know it well :)

are you on about the client or the server?

the server you can install as a windows service so it runs in the background once windows has loaded.

as long as you have the server set up correctly and have port 32400 forwarded then you can access via web browser or mobile client when out and about.

I cannot seem to get Plex media player to open up in Windows 10 from the start menu, nothing appears?! Any ideas. Was working fine with PHT and Win 8!

any diagnostics if you run from command window ? Does it have a log file like plex server.
I have used commandline options so it loads in windowed/mouse mode eg

I have PMSService installed. I use the same machine as the player too as its only connected to my TV. Everything is working nearly spot on apart from some files have a audio stuttering issue with DTS/HD audio.
