Can I join the AA and call them out immediately?

Not sure I follow.

I think people tend to ignore his posts in general ;)

@ Clarkey - Agree with Fox on this one. Autoaid is only ~£38 for the year and you can get excellent cashback deals through Topcashback/Quidco on RAC/AA.

It would be silly not to.

It's a good idea for sure, I've just never really needed it. Never had a car break down, no reason to believe I will.
Come to think of it, I do have cover included with my 300zx insurance, wonder if that would also cover a different car.

Thanks for all the answers anyway, answered my question.

Other than this thread. This thread seems like good reason to beleive your car might break down again in future. Breakdown cover is so cheap it would seem lunacy not to bother with it on a on a 90's BMW? I've used it several times on my newer BMW!

I have the lower level cover on my BOS Current account. I guess I'd have to pay an upgrade fee to access longer distance towing and things like that.

After I hit a kerb and destroyed two tyres leaving me stuck in Glasgow 15 miles away at 2am it would have came in handy then!

With the first 24 hour the 'relay' (I.E take the car back to your home) cover will not apply. They will however come out and assist you in a breakdown and tow you back to the nearest garage immediately.
