Can i power on my computer remotly

Hi, Not sure if i should put this in here of the networks section, If im wrong sorry and please move me.

Anyway what i want to do is remotly power on my media pc remotly or over the network, can i do this by pinging the ip address? would i need to enable the network card rom on the motherboard?

Any idea's?

Quick spec rundown
Motherboard is DFI Lanparty SLI-DR with onboard LAN ports
2 x 450 watt power supply (modded together)

You'll need to enable the Boot on Lan option in the Bios.
