Perhaps if we had even a small incline on what AV amp you have and also which model remote we would be able to actually offer some advice.

As has been said, it's possible to program the Sky+ remote to control the volume and power functions of the amp.

I didnt say what AMP i had, because usually if something is controllable from say a universal remote control, all you need is the code for the device. I can control my DVD player and TV no problem, it would be nice to be able to control my sky+ box too. Anyway i have a Sony STR K880 amp.

I used to control my SKY+ from a logitech remote so yes there are codes. They differ depending on the version/manufacturer of the SKY+ box. Mine was a PACE 3100

Yes, but the remote is not a universal, it is specific to your amp or range of amps. Each manufacturer uses it's own code set.

All Sky remotes use the same codes, there are varying revsions however.
I meant your AV remote in my post.

Anyway, try this with your SKY remote:

1. Turn on the AV amplifier you wish to operate, press the TV button on the SKY + remote

2. Press and hold down the Select then the 0 (zero) buttons until the light blinks twice

3.Press 1686 the light should blink twice again

4.Press the left arrow key on the Sky remote the Amp should go into standby, press the arrow key again to switch it back on.

5.Press TV Key

6.Hold down select and 1 until the remote's LED blinks twice

7.Press Sky key and you should now be able to operate the volume when in the Sky mode of the remote.

Also give code 1786 a whirl if the above doesn't work.
