Sorry I just really have no idea how to tell whether this will run so I just need a simple yes or no, that would be great.

I have:
- Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 @ 2.40GHz
- Motherboard: Gigabyte tec Model P35-DS3L
- 4GB DDR2 RAM
- Nvidia GeForce 9800GT

And I want to purchase:
OcUK Value GeForce GTX 460 1024MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card

Now i know my GFX card is bad, which is why im hoping the card will improve my PC, as far as I can tell its the weakest point of my setup.

Basically i can only play Shogun2 on medium settings and Football Manager is not as fast as I would like at all and I hope this GFX will help, if it fits.

Thanks in advance for any responses

the gfx card will be fine on you set up. only problem wouldbr if it will fit in your case, to be honest i think it will fit, looks about the same size as an 9800 but have a measure :)

thats good to hear thanks for the quick response, I find running games on high settings quite hard, any idea if that is due to the 9800gt?

i take it that card would run fine stulid? and i have no idea how to overclock, never done it, was worried about any heat problems etc

To be fair, your current GPU isn't terrible (this is how it compares to the GTX 460, the 8800GT is basically the same card as the 9800GT), but going for a nice GPU upgrade should yield you some extra gaming performance in big 3D games like Shogun 2.

However, in games like Football manager - I think it's more to do with your CPU power. Have you considered having a go at overclocking?

The GTX 460 1024MB is a nice card, but right now you can get a HD 5850 for a bit less money - and if you look here it is slightly faster card in most games.

Also, as mentioned above - what make and model of PSU are you using?

just monitor the temps as you push higher and higher, do a little at a time, just try to get too 3ghz.

oh and i assume i cant run dual monitors with the 5850? it says 1 dvi slot

Depends if one of the monitors has a DISPLAYPORT or HDMI input instead, then you can run two.

is there a definitive list of figures that i change it by each time anywhere? i actually have no idea what im doing

Cant help you there, I am not familiar with overclocking that cpu/board.
