I'm currently on a sim only monthly rolling contract with Three and I want to switch to a 12 month contract because i'll get more data for the same money and if sign up as a "new" customer i can get cashback.

Anyone have any idea if i can actually sign up as a new customer and keep my current phone number?

Thanks

Yes if you want the hassle of transferring your number to another providers SIM then back to Three, if not then no.

Would it work by getting a pay as you go for as cheap as possible, transfer my number to that, then transfer it back to my new three contract?

Is it through a cashback site?

I'd be surprised if Three approved the cashback as they'll see you aren't a new customer even if you transferred from a different network.

They'll probably have a cooling off period before you're considered 'new'

Just accept a different number, I've changed mine loads of times no bother at all just text out your new number to those that you want to have it.

Well it's not technically new customers, just new contracts (not upgrades).

I've done this twice in the past, cancel, port to Virgin pay as you go sim, then port back on new contract.

As above, i had the one plan and Three CS wasn't offering a satisfactory deal, so i signed up for a new SIMO deal via cashback which is currently tracked and pending the payout - i think they wait for the contract cooldown policy to expire so you can't cancel after getting cashback.

I had a number moved from one three contract to another contract without having to swap to another network. They were perfectly happy to do that. Old phone had to go onto a pay monthly deal for a month and then they switched it.

I was surprised as I'd just ordered a giffgaff sim...

I rang up and they offered me 4gb data and unlimited texts and calls for £12 a month. I accepted it as it suits my needs and budget saved a great deal of hassle not having to lose or transfer my number to a new contract.
