Can I SLI

Ha! Thats pretty much exactly what I did! Gave me something to read on the train this morning though! Also gave me a lot to think about.

:D

Before I started thinking about SLI I was looking at upgrading to a GTX580 to handle Battlefield 3, but then I started wondering if it would be best to do a cheaper upgrade now/not upgrade now, and wait until the next generation of cards come out.

Another thing that put me off upgrading to the 580 was the memory, and if it would actually be able to handle Battlefield 3 at 1080p because ive read in places that 1.5GB isn't enough for high resolutions (though I remain sceptical of how true this is, until I see for myself).

1.5GB is easily enough ;)

What are your thoughts? I will most likely be staying with Nvidia, though ATI's value/performance is tempting, I've had bad experiences with them in the past. Still I wont rule ATI out completely.

Try getting a second hand GTX 460 now and waiting for next gen :)

Totally false information that a 1.5Gb card will cause you any BF3 problems ;).

I was playing earlier on all ultra settings and it never went below 60 frames and if I turned AA off and everything on ultra it never went below 80 frames from what I saw quickly having a go at it. Working so can't play grr, but tonight is BF3 night :D.

Thanks to a user called Harmony on this forum and called other things on other forums he is spreading bad information about real VRAM use on games and certain resolutions.

I'm gaming on a 26inch 1920 x 1200 monitor by the way.

With the GTX 580 1.5Gb I have i'm loving what I saw :D. I also played Crysis 2 with the high resolution texture pack and DX11 and never did it once stutter or anything, it was as smooth as silk and amazing to look at. Ohh also to add my CPU was at stock at all times too, I only overclock to 4.8Ghz for FSX.

I would personally sell the card you have on the members market and save up for a 570 or a 580, they are both on offer on OCUK at the moment too.
