Can I Trust Charities?

I've started training to support the rights of less able individuals, my understanding is that a limited number of staff are paid (such as the director), but the rank and file people doing the work on the ground are volunteers.

I was dissapointed with a charity a few yeara ago...well more than a few years.

It was the RNIB u know the blind one....quite a big national charity. Used to give empoyees loans to buy homes interest free. Yes it was a loan but thats not really the point loaning charity money to staff.

Never trusted a lot of charities since.

All those envelopes that come thru the door. ''For every Tonne of clothes we sell we give £10 to charity''. Thats just ridiculous. You could in some cases sell just one item for £10 let alone a tonne.

I'm, for the opinion now if such charity is needed for any cause the goverment needs to start coughing up instaed of spending ''and'' selling billions of £ in arms. (thats the weapons not real arms with elbows...lol).

Is that not just them same as them investing the money? Seeing as it is investing the money in the workers homes, I'd be very surprised if they didn't retain a %age of the value rather than the amount they put in.
