Can I Upgrade XP Home using XP Pro install cd ?

I am refurbishing a PC (more ram, faster CPU, same MoBo and disks) and it has XP-Home on it, we need to put XP-Pro on it.

It will save a lot of hassle if I can just upgrade it to XP Pro rather than carry out a total re-install.

I have bought XP-Oem (not upgrade) for it. Will this OEM install disk upgrade the Home edition or will I have to do a total reinstall ?

Total re-install i think as its not an upgrade version.

Afraid not. Windows XP Professional only has upgrade paths from NT Workstation 4 and Windows 2000 Professional, I think.

EDIT: I'll get this right in a minute. No, you can't upgrade with your OEM disc - you need an upgrade version.

I've upgraded Home to Pro a few times. It almost always screws up at some point, so I wouldn't really recommend it.
