Can I use DSR in this situation?

I have just returned from a four week stint in China on business. My girlfriend purchased me a few DVD's in preparation for my belated birthday, when I returned. One of the DVD's she purchased for me I watched whilst flying to China and the film isn't really a keeper so she'd like to return it.

She checked the T's and C's on the website she purchased from (the jungle place) and it states items can be returned up to 30 days after purchase. Today is day 31 and the day I opened the present.

We of course will try the polite and courteous email first but if push cam to shove can we use the DSR regulations to return this DVD? I'm unsure if there is a time limit within which you can use it. The DVD is unopened, all fully sealed / wrapped still.

Cheers.

OK, thanks. Looks like just hope the supplier understands our reasons or I'll just have to add it to the DVD collection.

DSR doesn't apply to DVD's if you change your mind

"The goods you can't return

There are some goods you can't return if you simply change your mind, including:
•CDs, DVDs or software if you've broken the seal on the wrapping"

He means he watched the movie on the in flight entertainment not the actual dvd, his post is so confusing it took me a while to work out.

If the DVD is unopened, as you state that it is, you would normally be fine to return the item through the automated process. However, as you're 1 day over the 30 day limit, you could try and talk with a returns rep through the 'Contact Us' system on the website, who might be lenient and let you return it anyway. Amazon customer services has been pretty good to me in the past.

Wrong, you get 7 days to "notify" them of your intention to return it, you actually have 28 days to return it - either way, can't see them taking it back, might aswell just try flog it on here

Also wrong. I don't know where you got 28 days to return from but there is no deadline. Also, to be clear, it's 7 working days in which to notify.

The CS on that website is excellent. If it's unopened, they'll probably take it back if you ask in the live chat.

only thing i've noticed with amazon lately but maybe this is for the 3d pary sellers, is i've got to pay the return fee, once cost me about £5.50 for a £12 item which was almost pointless to send back, however it would have been binned so i did but it makes me consider buying things now where as before i would happily buy loads and not consider i may have to pay half in return fees
