yeah to stop it sticking, wasn't sure if it contributed to taste at all. I am new to the whole cooking malarkey and with the kitchens I have exploded in the past I like to double-check everything!

You're too late!
The oil worked anyway, it didn't stick this time but it still tastes as rotten as last time I made it with just water. I also burned the bacon I have added to the pasta so overall a fairly disgusting meal.
