Can I use Win 7 key for new Win 11 install?

FWIW, I did an upgrade to Windows 10 from my old Windows 8 key today. It was activated when 8.1 was installed, but was not activated, and could not, when upgraded to Windows 10.
I was just messing about on an old laptop. Other methods used to activate afterwards. :D

I'm not that tech savvy I don't think. Prob best just do a clean install on the new laptop.

My key is an original win7 OS on disc.
Guess you will just have to try it
And find out then
Not overly optimistic you will succeed

But of course Microsoft could change something
At any time given a lot of people are complaining
Their previously activated windows now isn't
Which might have been a foreseeable consequence
Of what they were doing
Would have thought there's a way they could check
Previously activated compared to people trying
To upgrade for free now

Surely though I should be able to get at least win 10 as that is my key? (Upgraded from win7)

Any upgrade to 11, the key from older os's will no longer activate with windows 11, saw a post a few months ago saying windows were closing down that method.

7 to 10 may still work with activation though.

I remember my Windows 8 key being very cheap for some reason (25 maybe?), I guess it was a deal to get people on to it.
Since then, the idea of paying full price for a Windows key has seemed a bit laughable. Especially with the excrement they are constantly pushing out these days.

Where do these"keys" come from? I would have thought they could only come from Microsoft so they must know they supply places like unitysoft
Probably things like volume license keys
Or educational keys
Or other things like that
So Microsoft didn't originally sell the keys
To these companies
In fact see if any of the cheap key companies
State they are Microsoft approved partners
At best the keys will be acquired
By exploiting grey areas
At worse illegally perhaps
