Hi,

Here's my spec:

Shuttle SD37P2
Core 2 Duo 6600
Sapphire x1950Pro 512Mb
2Gb PC5300 Patriot Signature Line RAM

Was thinking about throwing an extra 2Gb RAM in there as it's fairly cheap.

I'll be editing FULL HD from a Sony HDR CX7 camera, and will be doing so in Sony Vegas.

I'll do a full re-install (I'm running Vista Business 32 - worth upgrading to a 64 bit version?)

Any ideas?

Cheers,

PD

considering i edit on a 2800 barton with 1gig of ram 120gb main drive and 500gb usb id say yes though i only touch standard def in premiere pro 1.5, can be slow especially with the use of plugins / filters least it works.

a quad would be nice but give your rig a run see how it performs id imagine hi def will be time consuming.

have you got a decent sized / multi monitor setup to deal with the res of the footage and the pannels open?

if you want 4gb you need 64bit vista.
you can edit on any machine you wish, but the better the spec the quicker it will be, a quad core and ram are the way to go.
get 4gb and it will be fine for home/uni use.

Dell 2005fpw, so nothing massive.

I'm not planning on doing anything serious, it's just for producing skydiving vids from the footage on my helmet cam - not edited HD before! SD is fine on this.

Yeah you will easily be able to. But as said, if you can stretch to a Quad it'll help significantly as the majority of rendering power is CPU dependent

Is any RAM OK?

Found some Kingston DDR2 667 at £14 per 1Gb stick.

Can I just buy two of those and put them in? Doesn't need to be high performance RAM does it?
