Can is use AS5 to apply GFX card cooler?

Just got a Zalman VF-700 for a 7300GT. Can i use AS5 on the chip before fixing the cooler rather than the Zalman thermal grease stuff that comes with it? Will AS5 be better or is the Zalman stuff specially for GFX cards? Just checking...

I assume AS5 will have the edge though?

What about application? Doesn't say in the instructions, but should a thin layer be applied across the surface of the chip with an old credit card or razor blade?

Yup, a blob in the middle, and then push down with the heatsink and twist it slightly side to side and then fasten it down. :) Should evenly spread the AS5 for you. You can also apply a thin (opaque) covering to the bottom of the heatsink as well if you wish. (I do). With regards to Memory Modules (if the heatsink covers these) I found out that they require more paste than the core and work better with a slightly thicker covering of paste. :)
