I have a pair of Steel Series Siberia V2s which I've had since mid summer, and so far they have served me well. Today, whilst I was on skype, I was randomly told my mic ain't working well. I did the obvious, move the jack, remove it, back in, etc.

NOTHING. It doesn't work. I have to be 1cm from the mic for it to read my voice, and when it does, its all fuzzy. This is my third pair where my mic goes to ****.

Once I had a cheap headset, second time I had a clip on mic, Steel Series too, and now this. I have NO idea how it is happening. I always treat my headsets well, and I find it hard how the mic can break :? I do have these Logitech speakers though, which have an input for mic and headphones, and I have a small hunch the mic one is breaking them.

This doesn't sound too logical to me because I can't see how a jack can be damaged, as it seems to have no scratches.

Do you have ANY idea what it can be? is it me or is it this Logitech thing? Or am I just unlucky?

Also, what can I do? I looked for the receipt (which I was 100% sure I kept, but i can't find it :(

Bin the POS....

Another reason headsets are pathetic compared to headphones + mic.

God knows why you bought Siberia V2s in the first instance.

Have you tried plugging the mic into the 3.mm jack on your mobo? Or try sending them an e-mail, see what happens.

Failing that, buy a set of headphones and either a clip-on mic or a desktop mic.
Failing that,

Theres nothing wrong with headsets as long as they're not cheap shiz which these obviously seem to be...

I've had a couple of Sennheiser headsets which never broke and the only reason they were replaced was boredom :P

You'd have to spend 2-3x the amount on a headset to get vaguely comparable sound quality to a set of headphones :p

I have a pair of Fatal1tys and I simply cannot fault them. The current pair I'm using have gone on 2 years and counting! Sound quality is fantastic, and the mic itself is also brilliant.

Siberia V2s are not bad. Nearly all the PS3 community uses them, along with the A40s, and nobody ever had this problem.

I tried to contact them via the support. Already got an answer!

But do you think it was this Logitech hub that got them?

Sound quality can be described by one word only - crap.

Yes, I own a pair of these and they are laughable compared to Goldring DR50 which I got for £10 from flea bay.

No, you're right. They're terrible...

At least their support seems to be decent!

I'd be very surprised if what is effectively just a male->female connector is causing your mics to break.
