hi as topic really. My hd led and power button cables were trailing very close to my motherboard until recently, so i just wondered if any cables are unshielded and so would possibly cause a short if brushing by any other components?
cant find much info on this on the web which probably means unlikely but just checking!

thanks

Well by uninsulated I mean they dont have any plastic wrap around and they are just the bare metal wires.

Yes they could cause a short, I would insulate them. On my new build there is an unused front panel connector that has some exposed contact parts which could short acorss two solder pins on the MB so I have even insulated the unsused connector.

Takes seconds to insulate them and maybe a few hours to work out why your PC has died if you don't. No brainer really.

Yup defo insulate, not sure how you could get bare wire.. but ... unless you mean unshielded EMI wise and there actualy insulated?
