The Kooks are pretty ******* mediocre. Standard angular guitar-based indie rock. Same old, same old.

Bono is a ****, so I wouldn't be suprised if he ruined a song.

Music is always good, you just have to look in the right places. Mainstream music is nearly always awful.

Every time Kanye Wests new single comes on i have to turn the radio off.
It sounds like it was wrote in a 10 second break.
"I'm extra fly
I don't know why
I wanna die
I'm extra fly "
etc etc
or summat similar.

I cannot believe anybody has bought it.

Agreed. Can't stand it when artists seem to over-rely on sampling either, sadly commercial hip-hop seems to thrive on this. Complete lack of creativity. Oh well, he's gotta pay this bills I suppose, like everyone else.

kanya is good music. I dont think that song is supposed to be poetically written, but its damn good rap. He hardly has a lack of creativity either, you can't even try to accusing an artist of that over one song.

If you think he lacks it, go listen to Roses, Bring me down, or Hey mama. None of which may be your type of music, but they are far from lacking creativity.

Depends entirely on how it is used, Entroducing by DJ Shadow is a stunning album, but is created entirely of samples (was the first album ever to do this too), if your a cack artist then you will make cack music, but if you are good with what you do then you can use anything to make good music.

Yeah, I'm going to seemingly contradict myself, but that's different :p :o

It's one thing to rip riffs off, but another to create tracks made solely of samples. That's an astonishing feat. Then there's the Beastie Boys. Oh dear, what have I got myself into :p

I don't like the Mary J/Bono song, but I never much cared for it in the first place.

I think the mainstream is as good as it's been in a long time. I'm going entirely by Radio1's daytime play list here. There's some great indie, rock, rnb and hip hop around just now, even some of the euro-dance tracks are acceptable.

I'm not particularly interested in the music scene/business (never read an NME in my life) so I'm largely oblivious to what's considered fashionable at any one time. If I like the sound of it, it's good music.

While we're on the topic - go buy 'Mextremist!' by Brujeria and skip to Marijuana.

Mexican Sludgecore cannabis-based cover of The Macarena.

Mexican sludgecore? That's brilliant. In my day, nu wave robot synth was as exotic as it got.

Glad to see I'm not the only one. Radio1 play it heaps in the mornings during the Chris Moyles and Jo Whiley show and his tunes just do my head in, resulting in me reaching for the volume knob.

As for Bono doing a reworked version of One :( It starts off so well and then the wailing banshee sounds just destroy it :(

The Kooks & Arctic Monkeys etc etc same old indie bands in my opinion there just ska guitaring with over done northen accents. I have a hatred against Bono.
Kanye West sucks iv heard i think 1 song and he goes on about being a "Rich N*****" or somthing. I find the best music comes from Metal and prog rock bands these days.

The Kooks are the biggest load of **** ever imo. Their childish happy happy songs just grate on me something rotton (and yes I do have the album). naive's ok though.

And the MJB version of One is an absolute travisty! It's constantly played on the radio which I have to endue all day in work due to the women I work with insisting that we listen to commercial radio. Thank god for ipods :)
