can overclocking cause the IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL Blue screen error?

because recently i have overclocked and added an extra gig of ram.

if its not the Overclock then its defo a problem with ram because i have uninstalled all things since the crashes started.

im running vista 64 bit with a DFI DK X38-T2R

BSOD's and Ballistix often points towards faulty memory.

But have you upped the northbridge/MCH voltage by ~0.1v to boost it for running 4 sticks?

Google it....Seems it is often a driver issue (any recent drivers installed) but is highly likely to be a memory issue, which might be down to timings which could be your overclock......

mmmm. first step, tune down your overclock and see what happens

okay - if i still get errors with new RAM out then will stop overclock with the 4 gig in then if i still ge them i will boost the NorthBridge/MCH voltage by o.1 volt.

right?

I had a faulty stick a few months back, that causes this problem, and various other strange problems too.

I'd clock it down first to rule that out. If the problem is still there, try removing the stick.

well this is the second stick of balisstiX memory i have had to send back - also i dont see those voltage settings on bios i see

DRAM voltage settings and their at like 1.925
and NB Core voltage.

i really hope this isnt a memory problem because memtest showed no errors and the ram is under a day old!

Set DRAM Voltage to 2.2v. And set NB Core to ~0.1v above it's lowest setting.

Test the memory with the CPU running at its stock speed, and the memory running at it's stock speed. Which speed of the Ballistix do you have?

Set your DRAM Voltage Control to 2.2v.

Then set CAS Latency, RAS# to CAS# Delay, and RAS# Precharge to 4. And Precharge Delay to 12.

Then set CPU Clock to 333mhz, and adjust the DRAM Speed so that Target DRAM Speed is 800mhz.

okay i have done everything you have said.

where it said DRAM speed auto.
and Target DRAM speed = ddr2 800

i changed the auto to summit like 377/277 or summit so the Target DRAM speed still = DDR2 800. Right?

i guess now i just have to wait - then if all is well i can overclock my cpu slightly?

doesnt say the MHZ just DDR2 800 but i assume thats the exact same lol

thanks Cob!

Also my cpu multiplyer keeps switching between x6 and x8 how do i change it so it doesnt change?

Right still got the bsod last night - testing with out new ram stick -

is it possible that if you installed a bad driver then uninstalled it it can still affect your pc?
