You can't force it Zefan, it has to occur naturally! The wonderous photoshop threads are a rariety, well the good ones.

I know, I'm just quite shocked that the ravenous PS team didn't lap that up :(

My shameless attempt...

He already has a spot in the best thread of 2006 poll.

this aint a windup thread.. although its turned into one. im just exploring the possibilities of how to live my life. im still young, what a unique life it would be to go master kung-fu in china and come back to britain in 10 years time.

What will you have acheived? apart from learning kung fu? Your mate will probably be better off you in ten years with a good job, fit girl, bought their first house and possibly even know kung fu better than you! Why dont you just get an education instead and aspire for better things - dont get me wrong, being a monk is ok but not my cup of tea. :)

Tell me, how long have you been a monk? If you haven't been a monk how long have you closely studied them?

I said that so as not to dismiss the whole monkish business and not to offend those who are into it. I havent been one nor have i studied them.

he watched the 36th chamber of shaolin after he heard wu tang rap about it ;)

I think he heard a boot-legged version. The original one was making reference to CREAM, widescreen, bitches and fast cars...Not a shaven head and a simple life lol.

id have to let them know somehow that im here for the kung fu and none of the meditation or obsessive rice-eating
I don't think they'd be too happy if you told them that.

I don't suppose they are in the business of teaching random people deadly martial arts without teaching them any of the discipline that goes with it.

Fool, have you studied any martial art before?? You can't ever master a martial art, especially not in 10 years.

To give a serious answer, no you can't just walk into a temple. They demand a great amount of commitment, and generally expect you to commit to it for life (even from afar).

If you expect training then it's even less likely. Think of Star Wars, it's a similar thing. Most of the time a 10 year old is considered too old to begin serving in a temple, let alone someone of your age.

Just so you know this comment
id have to let them know somehow that im here for the kung fu and none of the meditation or obsessive rice-eating
alone would prevent you from getting into a temple. For a start, meditation is a very large part of monkhood, and also a PART of kung fu, so no you wouldn't be able to 'avoid' meditation. While there you also eat the food that is prepared for you, no maccy D's in the temple boyo, so you would have a very large amount of rice in your diet.

You also have to be deemed physically fit and able, as during training you tend to be up at 5 or 6am for a run up a mountain and back. Im not talking about the things we have here either, im talking about REAL steep mountains with gradients of up to 60 degrees.

I know this because I spent a month studying Aikido in Japan during the summer. The amount of effort i had to put in just to get there (I already had my 1st dan in Aikido) was phenomenal, and even then most of my training partners were about 10-12 years old. And better than me in nearly every way.
