Can running reduce stomach fat?

10km 5 days a week?! I wish I had the time! :p

Seriously though...that is too much, you will eother a) not be able to sustain that intensity b) your body will plateau to the exercise.

You need a combination of CV, weights & most importantly diet management.

I dont eat carbs after 6 & eat healthily as much as poss.

There's no point doing all this exercise if you're eating more/**** if you dont cut down on what you are eating/eat more healthier you will never lose it.

Am I being too obvious?! :/

Running won't specifically reduce your stomach fat, you can't "spot" reduce fat, certainly not with a specific exercise. It will however lower your overall fat, yes.

As Platypus says you can't spot reduce fat unfortunately - else we'd all be much happier people! :D

Your body will hit a stage where the cardio fat burning effect will no longer have as much impact. The best way to re-stimulate your fat loss would be to do some HIIT-type of training. 10km 5x a day is quite a fair bit to do, but if you're body is responding well to that exercise then I'll let it for you to judge.

However, if you want to help with fat loss the best thing to do is to address your diet - as that's 90% of the work really. A combination of HIIT and some weights (doesn't mean you have to shift big weights or try to become "big") will help accelerate that change in regime.

Personally, i'd think about knocking the running down a little and incorporate some resistance bodyweight exercises at home. You don't need kit.
Pressups, crunches (other ab exercises) etc.
To an 'extent' the fitter a muscle is the more affinity it has to burn fat from around it. This is not spot-reducing as that has been proven not to work as platypus has said, its a more general calorie burning effect from muscles with naturally less fat around it than others anyway.
Remember resistance/muscular exercise will burn more calories at rest so you've more chance of reducing that pouch.
However, are you talking about stomach fat, or just a sticking out stomach? Differences are quite obvious really. Eating too much in one meal can enlarge your stomach, back/abs muscle imbalance can also lead to the perception of a big stomach as it's pushed forward. I've suffered from this.
If it is just stubborn fat around your stomach, then it's exercise and calorie control imho i'm afraid.

Well I've noticed the fat cut down on my stomach (and elsewhere of course), the only CV I have been doing is running 10k a week, Body Attack and Body Combat classes - but bare min is the 10k a week.

Strength/tonewise Body Pump and pole.

Been watching what I eat as well. No there aren't any spot exercises for losing fat in one area, just going to have to go with a combination of things I guess.

And of course everyone is different!

BBx - Perfect example of doing everything right.

Watching what you eat and doing a COMBINATION of exercsies, INCLUDING CV work - which is really important.

To lose fat you need to get your heart rate up. However, things like body attack and combat will simulate more an HIIT style of training making your heart rate peak and trough, as well as stimulating muscle "growth" - I say "growth" as although not bodybuilding, such exercises will cause the body to develop muscle owing to the microtears you will be doing to your fibres, this helps use up calories, and keeps your metabolism in a more optimum state.

Clearly with the right dietary control - that combination is conducive to fat lose, increased muscle "tone" and general CV health.

So in fact, what you've achieved highlights exactly what has been said... so you're doing something right... or it's just been pure luck ;)

Also running is notoriously harmful for your heart, you can develop "athlete's heart" which is an enlarged heart.

lol, so what do you suggest keeps your heart healthy?

Notoriously harmful? - it is poorly understood at best.

You are better off running than sitting down all day getting fat.

In answer to the OP, I find running tones my stomach a fair bit. Just don't expect results overnight. I am sure some people will suggest situps - these are the worst thing you can do if you want to make your stomach smaller.
