Can scuffed alloys cause more damage?

No I just couldn't see ****! I was already going under the limit because of the weather and I don't think it should be national on that road anyway there's too many bends. So I tried my best but maybe I will just blame it on being a woman it sounds like that'd be more believeable!

Long story short I just got a brand new car, it's bloody lovely! I had it for a total of I think just over 3 days when I drove into a kerb and scratched right around the outside of one of the alloys. I don't think it's done any damage to the actual wheel that I can see, and no tyre pressure warning has come on.

It's a lease car so in 2 years I give it back, so I'm guessing I pay now and get it replaced or I pay in 2 years when they come and inspect it.

My question at the moment is could this damage affect anything else? Could it rust where it's scratched and something like the wheel falls off when I'm driving!

you have had the car 3 days and managed to scratch right around the outside of a whole alloy?

i'm willing to bet £500 that you damage either this alloy or another one again. i've been driving for over 10 years. only slightly kerbed an alloy once and this is because the prat in the right lane was also in my lane so i tried to squeeze past and it clipped a large kerb. again it was minimal damage about 2cm.

i would leave it if i were you chances are all your alloys will need re-done every month.

Nah I'm still going with you being a 90 year old! :p

Wait until a few weeks before you hand the car back and then get any damage fixed?

This is what I'm thinking of doing, but was wondering if having an alloy with a rough edge on would affect the car at all, rust, popping a hole in the tyre etc

I'm on the opposite side of the fence. I would personally leave it, even giving it back as is (unless it really bothers you/would ruin your enjoyment of the car).

If leased through the normal channels it'll likely be collected by BCA, the will charge you for the damage of over a certain size but the charge of £36 (from memory) is a lot less than it'll cost you to fix it, that and I know I'd likely do it again over the next 18 months anyway.

My other car was just collected by Manheim I think it was, is the £36 a rough idea from personal experience then? I wouldn't have thought it'd be too different from company to company.

Tilsun charged us £25 per alloy for damage. It's not the repair cost it's the perceived value reduction at auction they charge you for not repairs.

That was tilsun though other agreements might be different.
