Can someone explain to me about FPS and monitors

So there if no difference from having 140 FPS and 60 FPS on 144hz monitor?

There is a HUGE difference. I struggle with 100hz. I like to keep everything (played with a mouse) above or close to 120, 144 if I can.

Anything with a controller i'd tend to keep it at about 85-100fps depending on the game.

But yes 60-144hz is a huge difference in fluidity of any game. Especially more so with fast paced games like bf4 etc. You can run and turn and still keep your eye on objects across the map.

But, its all subjective. I'd take refresh over resolution/quality. Some people wouldnt notice or are not bothered by having a lower refresh and higher quality graphics.

I know I should have got a 1440p monitor but they are very pricy.

AOC 1440p 60Hz TN panel is ~£230 from OCUK, not too bad

I guess 2GB vRAM is holding back ur fps in games. Ur CPU is fine. Boot up a monitoring app (MSI afterburner etc.) and check ur vRAM usage in-game, see if it's capped.

>45 fps is considered "acceptable" for cinematic style / slow paced games.
Stable 60fps is "gold standard" for most gaming purposes.
The higher the frame rate, the smoother motion appears to be, so the higher the better.
For shooters, higher frame rates make the game look and feel much much smoother.
120/144fps+ is best for fast paced, competitive PvP games.

If you see no difference between 60 and 140 I'd be very surprised.

I agree there is definitely a noticeable difference. If you play a game at 120+ FPS for a while, then limit it to 60 (by changing the refresh rate and enabling V-sync) it will look very jumpy.

But it depends what you're used to. When I'm playing Doom it's usually around 40 FPS, but then in some parts where it jumps to 60 it seems really smooth.

So the dip and increase from 100-140 is fine? Isn't that bad because it dips so much?
Also, I should keep vsync off right?

Yes its absolutely fine. Apart from the fps number changing do you even notice it? Probably not. You can chase 144fps if you want but you will spend a lot of money for virtually no noticeable difference.

Yes you should keep V Sync off as it introduces input lag which isn't good for FPS games. Turn on G Sync if you have it.
