I believe so yes.. This allows you to install a smaller yet cheaper SSD solution.. best that someone else confirms this but this is my understanding.

how small, realistically can you get win 7 with sp1 and all the other updates though? and what happens if there isnt enough room for the updates, does windows spaz out or just stop downloading them?

I got my Windows 7 64bit install down to about 14GB just doing the things I said. I'm sure if you tweak a lot deeper you could get it towards 10GBish (you'd need to ask someone more knowledgable!)

Not sure about updates if there isn't room as I've never hit that issue.
