Can someone help? Confused regarding upgrade.

I've been in the process of upgrading my full system. The main things left now are the motherboard and CPU. I'm currently using an i3 3220 and a H61M-P25.

Would the best upgrade now be an i5 4670k and a suitable motherboard? Is there any reason to take an i5 2500/3570/3770 over a 4670k?

The system will be used for gaming along side a 7850 2GB.

Your current board will limit your ability to overclock, if you have the budget to get a new chip and board then I would. Either a 4670k or 4770k and the Gigabyte G1 sniper.
 
Only thing that really dictates upgrades is how much you have as a budget really Tom, if you can afford to buy a 4770k and a motherboard then you do that, if your budget doesnt stretch that far you get the next best thing at your budget level really.

Well unless you'll be using the PC for tasks that'll utilise the extra threads or going xfire/sli in the future than yes a 4670k is the way to go, not really worth going sandy/ivy as not much(if any) price difference between theem or hasewell plus lack of future upgrade ability with the sandy/ivy.
 
I initially set a budget of £200 and I was to buy from the Mm however I realise I need to expand the budget a bit more now...

The 4670k with a new mobo be very future proof wouldn't it?
 
Ok guys, sorry for another bump but I'm hoping to buy tomorrow so was looking for a quick answer.

I'm pretty much settled on the 4670k because it will be future proof and it's newer tech. However I have no idea what board to go for!

I'm not a big overclocker and I probabaly won't even overclock the CPU to start out with and I won't be running any dual graphics cards.

I would prefer to spend £60 on a motherboard rather than £100.

Which motherboard should I go for?
 
If you are only looking at spending £60 on a mobo, I would forget about getting a "K" chip. Because, if you did want to OC sometime in the near future, you will need to buy a new board in order to do so.
Personally, if I were you, I`d just look for a decent 2500k/3570k and a Z68/Z77, as you will still get a good few years out of it.
 
I guess I'm just going to hAve to take the hit and get the motherboard. I'm sure it'll be worth it because I won't have to upgrade it again for a few years?
