Can`t access bios with display port connected.

I have an Asus V248 144Hz monitor connected via the displayport on my 670.
But I can`t get a signal until it enters the OS and so I can`t access the bios on my monitor. It will however output to my TV but trying to do anything in the bios is difficult due to the position of said TV.
Is there a work around for this. I would use the DVI-I port but Asus only saw fit to supply a DVI-D cable, which is pretty ironic, considering it`s a 144Hz monitor.
Any help, gratefully appreciated as always.

I had the same problem on my Z77 Sabertooth after a mobo BIOS update using HDMI.

Downgraded BIOS on mobo, and EFI'd the BIOSs on my 670s and it worked. Think the latter was a red herring, but I can't go back now anyway!

I have the latest mobo bios installed and don`t particularly want to start going backwards. I`ll wait to see if Asus will send me a cable. Will probably just use the DVI-D cable over the weekend, whilst overclocking. But will also have a look around the net for any other remedies.
Thanks for the response.

No worries, if you do get a fix please let me know. I spent ages trying to get it sorted, and whilst I was setting up Linux dual boot/OC and stability testing it was a right old pain. So backed off to an earlier release, and haven't bothered to go back. All stable and loving it, so figured why fix something that isn't broken. :)

Got an answer back from Asus, as I asked them to send me a DVI-I cable. The monitor only comes with a DVI-D cable. Here is their response.

Thank you for contacting ASUS Technical Support.

As there is no analogue video source for this monitor, it ships with a DVI-D Dual Link cable only. The DVI-D cable will only carry a digital signal, not an Integrated digital and analogue as the DVI-I does. This is only useful when using a DVI to VGA adapater as the analogue signal needs to be available.

Kind regards,
Sam

Anyway to test via hdmi?

Atm, I have monitor to 670 connected via displayport and TV to 670 via HDMI. I can try tomorrow and see how it goes.
I`m just a little confused with buying a monitor which is capable of 144Hz and the only cable supplied will only allow 60Hz.
Also noticed the other day, with the displayport in, there are some games I can`t play, like Black List, which has a max refresh rate of 59Hz and I can`t lower the refresh rate in the Nvidia control panel below 85Hz.
Cheers as always wazza.

Doesn't the monitor menu let you adjust refresh rate lower? Without using NVIDIA

Think you can create custom res/refresh rate in NVIDIA software too

Can`t seem to find any way of adjusting the refresh rate on the monitor menu.

If I have the monitor cloned with the TV, then the refresh rate is 60Hz. Seems I just need to remember to change this depending on what games I`m playing.

Latest reply from Asus.

Dear George,

With the supplied DVI-D cable it is not possible to have the rate set to 144Hz, this will only be possible with the DVI-I connection.
If you wish to have the rate dropped down to 60Hz this will be possible on a HDMI connection.

For the 3D function for enable the rate at 144Hz you will require the Dual link - DVI cable. To have the rate dropped to 60Hz, you will require a HDMI cable.

Kind regards,
Thi D.
ASUS

So where`s the sense in selling a monitor capable of 144Hz, but only supply a cable capable of 60Hz.
