Can the US franchise of Toms Hardware now be trusted?

WTF, why all the Tom hate???:p

As above, most can't be trusted anymore and it's not just lately.

At this point in time and recent Nv Gpp and nda signings, it's getting to the stage that if you are given hardware to test, there's usually strings attached with having to test for example, set list of games at certain settings, deviate and feel the wrath and denied the next set of hardware.

As it stands, apart from GN, Hardware Unboxed stated they weren't signing the nda and weren't invited to RTX reveal, and Kyle B(HOCP) has bought(pre-ordered Avram must have told him it was ok) two 2080's and 2 2080 Ti's, so that's 3 reviews that will take precedence when they land.

By chance I just strayed across a Toms Hardware article form the start of the year, headed. "Why GPU Pricing Is About to Drop Even Further"

It ends "once the floodgates of savings open up when the Nvidia 11-series is announced"

I can't remember when I stopped reading Tom's Hardware, but it was a long time ago.
I definitely liked it up to the Nvidia FX5800/5900/5950 & /ATI 9700/9800 era, no memory of it after that.

Nowadays the only reason you hear about them, is laughter at their expense. Everyone knows they are a sales site with specific companies to push.

The only thing I found surprising about this whole controversy is that there were still people out there who saw Tom's Hardware as having any credibility left. It's been shill central for a good decade or more. They just finally dropped the pretense of being unbiased and went so incredibly over the top with it that it was akin to Jen-Hsun walking up and slapping you in the face with his Huang.

I found TH to be quite useful when I first got into building PCs (around 2009 I think) but the articles on there have certainly taken a dive in recent years. The only page there I still look at is the gpu hierarchy table, as I find it useful to see how new cards compare to older series.
Jayz2cents videos have been helpful, particularly the guide videos, but I avoid the review vids and the goofy ones (like watercooling with beer). I'm sure Linus knows his stuff, but I find him too.....loud....and animated to watch his videos in entirety.

I had a look at Gamer Nexus, following some comments in this thread, and it looks like a decent site that I'm sure I'll visit again in the future.

Agree with most of the posters above, their content has been crap for years. I think their target audience is similar to Linus Tech Tips so the content tends to be low-information and sensationalist whilst appealing to people who aren't very "techy" but are interested in gaming.

At least LTT remain at least amusing, and often delve into stuff that won't be of interest to pure gamers. They're not a hardcore info site, but they have thier place. Toms less so.

I remember reading TH when I first started work back in 2000, building and repairing PCs etc. It's totally different now, the content is largely junk and not all that useful on a technical level.
