Hi all. Prob a stupid question but can someone fromOCUK overclock a computer if the motherboard is posted to them. Unfortunately I live in N>Ireland and would like my computer overclocked. Is this possible?

Best try for free cpu and ram? :)

I doubt it though but you can always try in customer services section.

:Edit:

Not sure if stalking 8pack is an option.

not really, you'd need the whole system. Case, cooling, Ram, specific CPU, even a poopy power supply can affect the overclock stability. If you tell us which specific CPU and motherboard you have someone here can likely talk you through the overclocking process. Its mostly just changing a few settings in the bios and testing the stability. Pretty easy assuming you have the right pieces.

as above its really trial and error. ive managed to get my 4770k up to 4.5Ghz and im pretty new to the overclocking scene. it can take time to get right but as said there is plenty of folk on the forum will help.

Its easier than you think.

eg a CPU that runs at 3.5ghz just go into the BIOS, change multiplier to 40x and you will nearly always see it run at 4ghz smoothly. Providing you have a decent CPU cooler. Its only when you want to push it more that you need to look at extra volts/timings etc.

Just read a few posts in Overclocking and Cooling forum and then when you feel like it ask a question of your own.

Thank you all for the advice and comments. The setup I have is an ASUS SABERTOOTH X79 Intel socket 2011 motherboard, combined with an Intel i7 3820 CPU and 32 GB of installed Corsair Vengeance DDR3 RAM. Iv read a few overclocking stories online but hoping someone on here can give me a few details on how to up it a little faster for everyday use. Which includes use for general windows browsing and gaming.

Are you using an SSD drive? For day to day nippyness that will make more difference than overclocking as i7's are not slouches and you have loads of ram.

Like I said before the i7 3820 is 3.8ghz, eg 38x multiplier, go into BIOS and change it to 40x, now you have a 4ghz CPU.

Easy. Take it step by step.
