Dont use any online cash4goldz types, who';; give you 25-30% of its actual value if you are lucky. Take a piece of it to a local jeweller, and have it valued. They tend to give you closer to the actual value, however it depends on the jeweller. Try a few in your area and see roughly what their price is. Dont let on how much of a large quantity you have. :)

i've just noticed you are in blackpool - you could try chards:
http://24carat.co.uk/

but they don't have a refinery so i don't know what price they will give.
honestly, i would ring up bairds and then take a train to london and hand it in personally - for close to 30k its worth it.

Hmmmm how exciting. I'm going on holiday tomorrow for a week so will enquire more on my return. So who did you say the best person to call is,

the hatton guys pay £895 an oz. current spot price is almost £1100 so thats not bad.
but i would also ring bairds (goldline) as they are a refiner and will probably beat that price. the other shops/jewellers will only sell to a refiner anyway (and i wouldn't be surprised if they sell it on to bairds anyway).

I second hattongardenmetals.com
Contact them or just send a small piece special delivery.

I have found them very good in the past. No hidden charges and they are paying £29 per gram atm.

Don;t post the lot off to a online dealer without insurance..... in fact i am not sure how much it would cost to post/courier something worth potentially £29,000 so I would be tempted to to take it in personally.

Industrial Platinum e.g. crucibles or thermocouples tend to vary in purity. Please choose 999 Platinum and if you know the purity, e.g. 90%, then we will pay you 90% of the 999 price.

Seems a lot of sites say something like that. So until it is refined into bars you'll not really know how much of it is Platinum.

Bairds don't buy scrap from the general public, only VAT registered companies.

thats a shame, i thought they did.
hatton looks like the next best bet then - but you could pop into the chard shop in blackpool and ask them? they are trustworthy (in my experience) and will probably point you in the right direction.
