Hi guys

I have a 4gb USB Easydisk pen and lately when ever I copy stuff to it then try and copy it back it says the files are corrupt??

I have tried this on numerous files on different servers and pc's?

Is the pen broken? I have formatted it a few times but still no joy

They sure can :(
Like most computer kit they can suffer from static damage.

I had one pack up on me before with similar issues :(

My USB pen drive has been through the washing machine at least once and still works, but nothing is invunerable!

PK!

Right I think I'll send it back and get a new one in that case as this keeps happening and I'm losing no end of data :(

Lol ok guilty on both parts I think :(

Work didn't want to pay lots I think it was £20 and yes I do tend to pull it out before it's ready (Lol)

Thats not true, as the USB stick will by default be set to "Optimize For Quick Removal" in Polices, a SATA HDD will be set to " Optimizer For Performance " by default.

You cant treat the drive like any Floppy/HDD and do a CHKDSK on it.

Well I've never had a problem with any usb device. I just unplug them. I figured XP can think for itself a little. I had a problem back in ME once but never in XP and I do it with my external harddrive, camera, usb stick and mp3 player.

Funnily enough I was just having a conversation about this with someone at work. I have never had a problem just pulling the USB stick out of the computer without using the safe removal tool, yet some of the people around me have pulled out a stick and lost everything. I think it all depends on the write speed and quality of the stick itself

Again, thats because a USB stick does not have the Policy that requires you to do that before removing it, unless you have actually changed it manually.

I've never met anyone in my entire life that has used that function.
I use it all the time.

Funnily enough the one time I forgot to use it, I had some corrupt files.:(

Just as well I keep a backup of my flash drive. :D

Only last week a relation of mine bought down his sandisk USB key that he couldn't write files to.
These I find are good.
Anyway, I copied all the files from it to my PC, and one was corrupt....the last one he had put on it.
Prolly him in a hurry pulling it before the file was written.

I formatted it, and it's fine.

Once again, you do not need to do that with a USB stick, it does not run the same Policy as a Sata HDD, its same in XP and Vista.
